Celebrating One Year of Solar Power at Finn-Korkki!
This September marks a significant milestone for Finn-Korkki as we celebrate our first year of harnessing solar energy. In 2023, we joined a growing community of companies worldwide by installing solar panels on our factory roofs.
Finn-Korkki is excited to share that the impact of our solar panels has exceeded initial expectations. A year ago, we anticipated that solar energy would contribute about 12% to our annual electricity consumption. However, the reality is even more promising, with solar power providing a remarkable 15.9% of our electricity needs over the past year.
Monthly data seen in the chart reveals the natural variations of solar energy production. During the winter months of December and January, when snowfall covers our panels, we see a contribution of 0%. In contrast, the sunny summer months bring a surge, with solar energy accounting for over a third of our electricity usage.
Looking ahead, Finn-Korkki want to explore electricity storage solutions to maximize the use of the solar energy generated on weekends and holidays. Currently, surplus energy is sold to the grid company during these periods.
With over 800 panels boasting a peak capacity of 315 kW across a surface area of 1,520 square meters, our solar initiative is making a positive impact.
